Remuseum compiled and published a structured dataset on members of the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) to support transparency and research on major art museums in the United States. Data were collected from publicly available sources, including museum websites, annual reports, income tax statements and were verified through direct outreach when possible. The project is designed to support research, policy analysis, and fieldwide reflection on the operations of U.S. art museums.
Overall, the dataset includes information on over 200 AAMD-member institutions across the United States.
Two reports highlighting transparency issues among U.S. art museums and findings from analyzing these data are available on the Remuseum website.
